$aFETY

Artist/Producer/Owner

From a small child I had always liked the thought of making my own music, my dream was to be in a band however that never worked out as I’d hoped, from there I went solo. I started music in early 2018, recording my first song the same year. I was involved in the birth of blvckbox along with v30 and lil berry in 2019, when my first deal in 2018 had proven unable to support my growth. Therefore, blvckbox was created to help artists flourish and grow, I feel we have achieved as such. My music has had many names, most notably king$ue$t and now $afety. For me music has been a place of safety since a young age, whether that be creating or listening that I can use to show my own experiences and find those like mine. I’d like to make a song with zaex or 1kxrby as their music is a personal enjoyment of mine and generally loveable musicians. I met them both through trxple as we’re close friends. In my opinion my greatest success would be achieving 75,000 overall streams on my platforms, which I had never expected 2 years ago, my next goal is to play more shows in the major spots and hopefully sell out a headline show. I have a technique for music block that I find helps greatly for me, by which I just switch to making beats or writing depending on what I’m struggling with at the time, and it continues in that cycle. Being a trans woman hasn’t in the music industry hasn’t been the smoothest of experiences. People have asked me “what are you” which hasn’t been the most comfortable of questions to answer, I know that it’s a dangerous world with lots of hate and people who don’t like who I am. But my hope is that with my music the message is clear to hold on to who you are and express that in any form you feel is best in a safe environment. In 10 years, I see myself living comfortably with my own studio, blvckbox office and continuing and ideally making a living from my music.

Trxple

Producer/Manager

I had always been interested in music and was curious about how the beats were made. I decided to look up some videos on YouTube, I found I quickly fell in love with the software that they used. I started making beats in 2018, but only made it seriously in the summer of 2019 when I began to see improvement in what I was making and decided to focus on making it the best I could. My name is relative to 666, as there’s three numbers in 666 but three didn’t sound catchy so I chose Triple but changed to Trxple when I became inspired by Scarlxrd in 2020. When working on a new song for the future, from the label I would pick Taka as he has a striking voice that I really like. Blvckbox to me really feels like a family, in my time with them they have taught me a lot about my music but also myself. I define my Greatest success so far as working with $aFETY as she has really helped me keep my career alive. My next goal for success is to spread my name further by working with artists signed to bigger labels. When I find myself stuck in a music block, I find it useful to listen to different music sampling different songs. In 10 years I see myself working in a studio as a mixing engineer working with a variety of artists, my dream artists being Zillakami, SosMula or Yeat.

Personal Problems

Artist/Producer/Manager

My career began because I was drawn to the idea of creating music, it felt like a natural pulling to me rather than something I decided to do. My first song before I had found the sound that suited me best was actually country and was released in 2017, it was made before I really knew of all the "Emo rap" artists. My name comes from the idea of having a multiple word name that starts with the same letter so I thought a lot before landing at personal problems, my art is usually a diary of the problems I face using it as a way to overcome and reflect on them. Out of blvckbox I'd like to work with 20world in a performance as I feel like I'd bring a nice energy to the stage while performing some of my songs. My greatest success to me would have to be getting on the xyz. Spotify playlist as I was very excited to be recognised by big playlisters. Usually I find substance use as a way of getting out of a creativity block mixed with reflecting again on past trauma, in the next 10 years I would like to be in the big cities living the best life I could be.

HeLL$HoT

Producer

My debut in music was when I started producing during the first lockdown of 2020 when I heard some songs with beats I thought had style, I always had a strong interest in music while at the time dabbling in piano and a drum pad app on my phone. My name was bad for a while, until I was thinking about songs I liked, I found ‘hells not hot’ by slutty sonny and it inspired me to get the name hell$hot. I joined blvckbox relatively recently and have adapted to everybody’s styles quickly, it’s incredibly supportive I find. I'd like to produce a song for kxrb because I feel our style differences would present a new challenge that I would love to try. My biggest achievement to me would be the sheer number of subscribers and viewer interaction I’ve had in my short time producing music, my next goal is to continue growing my fanbase and supporters with new placements. Eventually I hope I could make a living from my beats which has been a dream of mine and would feel so surreal to finally achieve. Whenever I find myself in a music block, I tend to listen to a lot of music and find something that brings the inspiration back so that I can continue to make beats, I find some of the artists that inspire me most are zillakami, xxxtentacion, lil uzi vert, trippie redd tupac & midwxst. I’m not entirely sure what I'll be doing in 10 years, however I don’t see myself discontinuing my craft as I really enjoy this work.

Kxrb

Artist/Producer

My interest in music came from playing the drums and guitar for around 7 years prior to making music like this, I feel like I was always supposed to be making music. I liked the idea of making something that was entirely mine and being proud to share it with people. I started my career in music during the first covid lockdown of 2020 in the uk, I gave up worry about people’s opinions and made my first beat. My name was inspired by my hamster and my favourite wii game at the time. In future projects I would like to work with trxple or taka. I think my greatest achievement was when I got 15,000 on my song “overnight”, I never thought that my music could get that far. My next goal would be to get 100,000 as I think that would be very cool. I count myself very lucky to not get writers block like my fellow artists, because of my freestyle method of creating. 10 years from now I would love to be a studio engineer.

Zaex

Artist

My life has always been filled with a love for music, so it was very easy to see I wanted to create something of my own someday. My career started when I met now fellow artist and producer trxple in late 2019, making a song together called “memories”. Later, $afety requested that I join the label and assist my music reach as a team. I got my name with inspiration from my auntie, growing up she nicknamed me zae. As I made new friendships this name stuck and grew to be recognizable with the people in my life. As far as working with artists in the future I would love to make song with a trxple beat. Personally, my greatest success so far would be receiving 4000+ streams overall, my next goal is to eventually go on tour and perform shows. When struggling with a creative block I like to go outside and stare at the birds, watching them fly. In 10 years, I hope to be a bigger artist continuing with my music and doing tours and shows.

AlmightyTAKA

Artist

I first started making music to share my sound and show others what I can create, I began writing in 2020 just as covid started, recording not long after and gained a little bit of traction from there. I got my name from one of my favourite anime’s naruto, there’s a team called ‘team taka’. I’m told my name appeared as others dream blvckbox features, however my personal ideal feature would be mancubus as I think our combined sound would be an amazing experience. To me my greatest success has been my experimentation with different genres to find my own style, my next goal is to continue working on my craft and see how much I can achieve. I think that blvckbox is like a family, I enjoy everyone's music and we’re all talented in our own right. If I get in a music block, I tend to try and focus to push though it by listening to the beats until I catch my flow back. In 10 years, I would like to be spreading positivity and love to help others and continue to make music for the open-minded people that enjoy my sound, in a way embracing myself through aesthetics. In terms of touring and shows, I would like to perform in California, Atlanta, or new york with zaex and kxrb. I'd love to perform with all members of blvckbox, I feel myself, zaex & kxrb have similar styles that complement each other nicely.

MANCUBUS

Artist

I got involved with music because I like the way that artists tell their experiences through their music, I wanted to be part of that and show my hood life with the force and aggressiveness of my sound. My first exploration into music started out as a joke in summer 2021, with my first song gaining more traction than I had expected. I got into discussion with $aFETY we agreed that I would join Blvckbox and started on my album. Blvckbox to me is like a family that everyone supports each other, we’re all misfits and that’s the beauty of it. If I got to do a song with anyone on Blvckbox I would like to make one with Taka, his voice has such a uniqueness to it. My name comes from an enemy in DOOM, a game I enjoy playing regularly. My greatest success is having my album finally completed after almost a year of work yet still constantly working on new music, my next goal is for my album to hit 1000 streams overall. I usually find myself listening to beats to get over music block, when I listen to beats, I catch flows quite quickly and it reignites my musicality again. In the next 10 years I see myself playing shows and touring, I'd like to play shows in LA, Miami & NYC
